I don't use a scanner anymore. I just take a picture with my iPhone and upload it to photobucket. That seems to work pretty good for me.

Those are nice clear scans. That's something I need is a new scanner. Any recommendations as to what I should buy?

Couple of things - Is it my imagination or does my "IMG" post look better than the "HTML" post - they are both the exact same scan.....hmmmmm

I have been using my old HP Scanjet 5590 for many years and have been pleased with the consistent results.

Scanner is set to default 300 dpi settings

I think the important thing is the CIS vs CCD Scanner Sensor Technology. (There are discussions on the Net 54 boards regarding this)

The 5590 is CCD - I think most new ones are CIS technology.

CIS produces a fuzzier image when the target is not completely flat (like Card Slabs)

Quick glance on eBay shows 5590 still hovering at around $200 for NEW even though I believe it was introduced in 2007 (about when I got mine - i think)

Used looks like around fitty bucks. I would not be afraid to buy used on this tank of a scanner.

Hope this helps...........

I believe you hit the nail on the head Toledo. I have an old HP 4010, and it scans the slabs superbly. I also have a newer Canon, and for anything color not in a holder or slab, I like it's color rendition better. But the difference is the lighting.
